House of Volumes

This house is the result of collaboration with Juan Benavides (Mexico) as part of his research. His research Method as Form is about incorporating a methodical and collaborative process in the form of an architectural exercise. Whereas the choice of particular method of design, coupled with a series of rules and restrictions could define unusual and imaginative ways of building, designing and making. In this case we only designed with volumes. One starts and the other reacts to the volume of the other person, and slowly the design grows. The project itself is a way of thinking about collaboration as a tool for generating dialogue, and in turn as a design tool.
